Like Water for Chocolate Series is inspired by my grandmother, Angela from Peru. She loved her family deeply and showed it through cooking. As the novel,” Like water for Chocolate", each story will include a recipe related to an event in her life.

My Grandma's Legacy
This is the beginning of the saga, when you will learn how Abuela Angela meets the love of her life, conquers his heart with food, and leaves a legacy to her oldest granddaughter. Have you ever experienced the old saying “love goes through the stomach”?
Grandma’s Remedies
Abuela Angela always had the perfect natural remedies to cure the common and not-so-common afflictions of her tribe. Her catalog of home remedies was extensive. Come and learn some of her secrets of non-traditional medicine.
Birthday Celebrations with Grandma
Abuela Angela consistently kept the tradition of celebrating birthdays. With an extensive extended family, there was virtually a celebration each month. Her remarkable talent lay in transforming these occasions into truly special events, marked by delicious meals and surrounded by love.
Return to the Roots
Abuela Angela often spoke about her Chilean origins, despite not knowing her birthplace. However, not remembering a place does not mean it is not a part of you. One day, I decided to address this and took her and my mother on a journey.
Grandma and her Doctors
Abuela Angela valued her doctors. Despite her knowledge of non-traditional medicine, she trusted her doctors and formed a strong relationship with them, particularly after undergoing extended treatment at home. She unexpectedly impressed them.
Christmas Eve Traditions with Abuela Angela
Spending Christmas evening with Abuela Angela was a cherished tradition throughout my childhood. Each year, I eagerly anticipated the grand celebration, gathering alongside a lively tribe of uncles and cousins.
Our Christmas Eve was marked by a spread of delicious food, lovingly prepared and shared among all generations.
The aromas of cinnamon, cloves, and orange peel always welcomed us into my Abuela Angela's kitchen. She lovingly greeted her grandchildren with steaming cups of tea, savory treats and desserts. This was our special teatime, traditionally known as 'Lonchecito' in Peru.
